Mayoral candidates’ names will appear on all ballots in each city, but council seats in the larger cities will be decided by singlemember districts. Runoff elections are scheduled Oct. 9.
Florence residents also elect school board members.
"It’s never happened to me before, so Darren Sproles Jersey I really don’t know how to handle it," the incumbent mayor said with a laugh. "This is not to say that, by any stretch of the imagination, I will miss being out campaigning in the heat."
This will be Sanford’s fourth term.
Sanford said the city’s improved financial condition and projects to improve the city’s appearance could be factors in his lack of opposition.
"Everyone can see there is an uptick in Sheffield and in the Shoals," he said. "We are investing in ourselves and making the improvements.
"We’re not in terrific financial shape, but we’re in better shape than we’ve been in years, and we’ve been able to come up with the financial matches for grants."
Bradford was elected in 2000 and has not faced an opponent in his three reelections bids. He said he has emphasized communication and cooperation, and the traits have worked for Muscle Shoals, the fastest growing city in the Shoals.
"Not having an opponent hopefully means people think we’re doing a good job and believe we are making decisions based on what’s best for the city instead of what’s best for a personal agenda or a small group of individuals," Bradford said. "I think they like that the council and mayor have worked together for the same positive cause and to make Muscle Shoals a better place to live, work and raise a family."
Bradford said he enjoys public service and has never intentionally tried to mislead residents or City Hall employees during his time as mayor.
Only one race Council, Place 3 will have competition in Muscle Shoals.
Jerry "Knight" Grissom, a longtime radio sports broadcaster, said in a prepared statement he has decided not to run for a third term for Place 3.
"It’s been my privilege to serve for eight years with a great mayor and city council," he said in the statement. "Much www.officialnikesaintsjerseyshop.com/WOMENS-DARREN-SPROLES-JERSEY.html has been accomplished during this time for the citizens of Muscle Shoals."
